Kairos, a SaaS-based startup in Miami, FL, has now made its advanced 2D to 3D facial detection and recognition API available on Mashape. The Kairos API takes the complexity out of face recognition so you can focus on building great products. Kairos brings you commercial grade face recognition without hassle; no talking to a shark salesperson in a $1,000 suit, or length contracts! Do check out the guest post below by them, and don’t forget to consume their API on Mashape!

Last weekend, NTT DoCoMo Innovation partnered with Mashape and hosted Global Hack. Global Hack is one of the first hackathons in Tokyo, where Japanese developers spent the weekend hacking to win a trip for 4 to Silicon Valley. Although hackathon culture is just beginning to develop in Japan, the event was well received. Final presentations were done in true hacker spirit; with no slideshows allowed, and featuring only demos of the hack to judges. The most creative hack I saw was a stuffed animal controlled by a phone that could recognize your voice, face and tell you the weather.…

There are numerous use cases for manipulating 3D images; however, finding a quality application has always been a challenge, until now.  Mashape is proud to partner with Vizago, a leading face recognition technology company.  Using a single 2D facial photo, Vizago creates full 3D facial reconstructions in OBJ format. Vizago’s patented Morphable Model Technology enables you to model and manipulate faces in real 3D, as well as create realistic 3D reconstructions of faces from a single user photo.  With the Vizago API you can create 3D representations when developing computer game characters, avatars, and medical simulations.  Vizago is also…

Mashape demo at Gluecon Last week at Gluecon 2013, we had the opportunity to show some cool demos that demonstrate the breadth and sophistication of APIs you can discover and use in Mashape.  We focused on Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Sentiment Analysis APIs. Below are links to demos shown during the presentation, as well as links to relevant news and references that point out to the growing popularity and importance of machine learning in the API realm. Enjoy!

Wikipedia defines Machine Learning as “a branch of artificial intelligence that deals with the construction and study of systems that can learn from data.” (If you arrived here looking for how to add or list an API to Mashape, you check out the Tutorials section here). Below is a compilation of APIs that have benefited from Machine Learning in one way or another, we truly are living in the future so strap into your rocketship and prepare for blastoff.
