Thanks for registering to Mashape’s Windows 8 Contest! What’s next?

*UPDATE!  We have extended the contest until December 22, 2012, and accepting WP8 entries!*

We would like to thank everyone who have signed up for Mashape’s Windows 8 Contest!  If you haven’t registered yet, please check out our Facebook page for the contest details and registration.

Here at Mashape, we are committed to supporting as many platforms as possible.  Which is why we’re running this developer challenge to reach out to those Windows 8/RT/WP8 developers out there.  The best Windows 8/RT or WP8 application that uses any APIs listed on Mashape wins a Microsoft Surface with Windows RT.  We’re currently running this for developers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Philippines… etc, and seeing some awesome traction!  We are very keen to expand challenges like this to other countries and other platforms in the near future.  So stay tuned!

Now that you have signed up, what’s next?

  1. Sign up for a Mashape account at https://www.mashape.com/ and start exploring the APIs.  There are tons of APIs there for you to use in your Windows 8/RT/WP8 applications. In order to consume them, you would need a Mashape account.
  2. Check out the Windows 8 Mashape tutorials provided by other community developers here (C# XAML) and here (WinJS/HTML5/Javascript).  If you would like to contribute we would be more than happy to feature your post here on our blog!
  3. Interact with us! If you have questions regarding the challenge or Mashape in general, you can reach out to us through Facebook, Twitter, or feel free to shoot us an email :)
  4. Remember that we are looking for the Best Windows 8/RT or WP8 app that uses APIs in Mashape.  You can mashup as many APIs as you want in one app.  You can even send as many submissions as you want.  The objective is to WOW us!  Show us something really cool, and you will be rewarded :)

Just to whet your appetite on that prize, you stand to win a Microsoft Surface with Windows RT (32GB model) with white Touch Cover.  Here’s the Microsoft link for more info on that device. And here’s a picture to keep your developer spirits up!

Happy coding everyone! And good luck!
