Rumors aboard Mashape's spaceship

At Trooclick, we’re passionate about the news. That’s why we just launched a groundbreaking new app to make life easier for news and publishing professionals. In an environment where time is scarce, producing quality news content is no mean feat. Knowing “Who Said What” about big issues is essential, but quotes and details can be difficult to come by. Imagine an app that delivered structured data about a person or issue of your choice, without the arduous task of searching hundreds of sources; Trooclick’s game-changing new API does just that. Our NewsData API automatically extracts quotes and related details from…

We’re thrilled to announce the acquisition of Gelato.io, makers of the popular API Documentation and Developer Portal, with an aim to expand and provide the service to everyone: from individual developers looking to document their API projects to Fortune 500 corporations requiring a secure and highly customizable on-premises solution. When I met Nik (and Adam) a couple of months ago, it was clear to both of us that we could do much more for the API economy together, and so we decided to partner almost immediately.  The first thing you will notice is an acceleration of feature development. Mashape demo at Gluecon Last week at Gluecon 2013, we had the opportunity to show some cool demos that demonstrate the breadth and sophistication of APIs you can discover and use in Mashape.  We focused on Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Sentiment Analysis APIs. Below are links to demos shown during the presentation, as well as links to relevant news and references that point out to the growing popularity and importance of machine learning in the API realm. Enjoy!

After an intense 24-hour coding stint that started 16th Feb for the MusicHackDay SF 2013 at the Tokbox office, we have picked our Mashape category winner, “Nightingale”, for mashing up a bunch of APIs from Mashape, including Text Processing, Musixmatch, and Word Cloud Generator, to name a few.  Congratulations to Nightingale developer, Vivek Agrawal, for winning the $500 prize from Mashape!  (He was also awarded the best Musixmatch category :)). Nightingale creates a song playlist based on your tweets.  (e.g. I got a bunch of “Flo Rida” songs after Nightingale analyzed my Twitter account).  If…

Hi all! After almost 6 months of alpha testing, Mashape is finally going Beta today! We pushed out the billing system to easily monetize your API, as well as some social features that allows you to follow APIs and other developers. Check out some of the news coverage we got below! From Mashable: http://mashable.com/2011/06/02/mashape For startups looking to create or license their web-based products, an API marketplace is a boon.
